A regular n-gon cake can certainly be sliced into n equal pieces, or into any factor of n. But the 6-gon cake in the picture can also easily be cut into quarters, and 4 is not a factor of 6. Learners could investigate which fractions are easy for which values of n.

Learners might try to make the slices with the minimum number of straight cuts.
